though I fully confess that's exactly what I wanted All Stars to be. I know the show isn't going back to that. It's not like it was on yesterday and they jumped to this season. But I definitely first watched it in my parent's basement and I've seen over 30 seasons since then, not counting spin-offs. It's so fun, there are a lot of great people (some to love, some to hate). BotS OG is probably still my favorite season. I get it and fully understand your disappointment in what the flagship has evolved too. Coral couldn't even thrive in the Challenge's current state and she was one of the biggest reality stars of that time. People like that can't even show up on this show anymore. Katie being so unathletic that her team is desperate to get rid of her but she's able to survive through pure spite alone is more fun to me than the past 20 seasons combined. Sarah Greyson who would rather eat ice cream than go to the gym surviving 5 eliminations and winning despite a team who hate her is a more dynamic win than anything CT, Bananas, Wes, etc.
MARK LONG ROAD RULES TV
I'm not watching tv gold like Jisela and Ayanna to see them run 10 miles or sprain an ankle. Even the spin-offs like All Stars, which I do think is miles better than the current challenge, is WAY too focused on putting these cast members to the athletic extreme.

It's really sad how a show like Survivor, which used to be more about 'strength' and challenge dominance has opened up its cast and storytelling to social maneuvering and gameplay beyond physical prowess yet the Challenge, which used to be light-hearted and casual enough for a pack-a-day smoker like Katie to win, is marketing itself as a sport. This era (Challenge 2000-Inferno) was the peak of the Challenge and used to actually be my favorite reality show, even above Survivor, BB, etc. For any of those who have seen this season. Even the strategy of dividing the prize money with losing teams to ensure they create the strongest team was pretty smart.

Not so much of a collective like we get now, these people have no baggage with one another for there to be any conflict amongst them.
MARK LONG ROAD RULES PLUS
these seasons, the soundtracks need to be added to paramount plus with the format being repeated by 2 opposing shows. Theo & Mike were the top dogs on their teams. Granted the challenges weren’t as death defying as what the flagship currently does but pretty impressive for “backyard games”. Road Rules cast members were noticeable more athletic and dominating throughout the season. This is the 1st season I watched that shed light on why Beth is so disliked by other cast members about her behavior outside of the shows. Granted their wasn’t any eliminations the voting off process created its own form of drama and conflict that the current seasons haven’t been able to replicate. yes a hurricane and showed how this real world event that was a topic of discussion on the news affected the cast. This season had a married couple, a baby, Real World London cast members(I didnt think had done a challenge),a toga party, a future congressman and a hurricane. The cast was made up of 2 cast members from each season of Real World and it’s sister show Road Rules to make up team Real World & team Road Rules.

It had Mark Long )Road Rules season 1) & Eric Nies (Real World season 1) hosting the season. Watching this season reminded me why I fall in love with the franchise.
